SCHOOL WORKSHOP - "EXPERIENCING WHAT IS TO HAVE A SPECIAL NEED"
The resource team and teachers organized a workshop to help the kids of the classroom to
understand better a person with physical limitations. The workshop was great experience not just for the kids but for all of us. The classroom was divided in four groups: the first group had to wear glasses that had tape on it, the kid have to copy what it was written in
the white board. The second group had to tie their knees and elbows together and
then walk around the classroom. The third group had to put in their mouth as
many pretzels they could and then start a conversation with their partners. The
fourth group had to wear gloves and write a note. Then all the groups rotated so
all of them can experience all the activities. After they finished
the class, they had a discussion of what they learned; the teacher passed out a
questionnaire with 3 questions. We all were so surprised at how the kids
answered these questions, we really were amazed at how smart and understanding
they are. Then Tomas had the chance to use the computer program called Proloquo2go. On this program he can push buttons with phrases that we previously recorded on it, phrases that expressed things that he like, and things that he expected from others with his condition.
He said at the end “You all have been good to me so far, thank you”and then when
we all started to talk about his tumor he also wrote something in his iPad, take a look at the pictures to know what it was. Great job! to all Tomas's school teachers.

RSL/TOMAS FUNDRAISER 8/6/2011
Fun night with friends and family at the REAL SALT LAKE/TOMAS Fundraiser.
What a night! We had good weather, we had a good game but the best of all we have the love of many people that came out to support Tomas and make him feel special. It is really overwhelming to see how many people came to the game to support us; from friends, family, co-workers, teachers, and many others that we did not even know personally.
Special thanks to all of those that left their personal acticvities to go and suppot Tomas on this day, to those that were not there but still made a donation for Tomas, to Calvary Chapel of Salt Lake and all of those that helped and made this happend. With all our hearts THANK YOU!

Tomas recived these happy letters from the kids of a Christian School in Philadelphia. We know that their teacher is always praying for Tomas as well as her church. The letters have beautiful motivation messages, witch were great for Tomas's spirit after his last appointment at Primary Children.
Thank you very much to all these kids (Shea, Jac, Rachel, Ethan, Estar, Miranda, Anna, Mason, Ryan, Caden, Katie and Harrison) and to Mrs. Christine Zeigler for her support in this project. Tomas, Victor and Mateo loved the letters.

Three King Day - Wise Men Day - 1/6/2011
Tomas received as a Kings Day gift a pulpit! He loves it!
On January 6 Tomas's family celebrates a Mexican tradition called "The Three Kings Day.” In Mexico kids received presents from The Three Kings, this is symbolic to the Kings that brought presents to baby Jesus.
When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Mathew 2:10-11
The tradition also includes to cut a bread called Three kings Cake (Rosca de Reyes.) In this cake is hidden a plastic figurine of baby Jesus. The baby Jesus hidden in the bread represents the flight of Jesus, fleeing from King Herod’s evil plan to kill babies that could be the prophesied Messiah. Whoever finds the baby figurine is blessed and must make tamales and hot chocolate for February 2. The tradition varies in other Hispanic countries (This just is a little bit of cultural information.) Tomas, his brothers and cousins love to cut the bread and see who is going to get the baby.
Special thanks to those Wise Men that made this possible, real wise men put their love and effort on this pulpit to make Tomas smile. Thank you with all our hearts.

One of Tomas's wishes came true. Tomas and his brother Victor were honored to meet Franklin Graham who is the president of the Billy Graham Evangelical Association. Please go to this web site to know more about Frankling Graham, Billy Graham and their ministries www.billygraham.org/
Victor and Greg had one of the most amazing trips of their lives. The kids could not stop talking about this trip. Last day of radiation at the Huntsman Institute - 4/15/2010
Was such a surprise what the personnel from The Huntsman Institute made for Tomas on his last day of radiation. They dressed as Star Wars characters, played Star Wars music, made a trooper mask, gave Tomas a Jedi cape and a beatiful letter. We all laughed and cried at the same time. From the first visit to the last one the personnel was very kind, caring and loving.
Special thanks to Heather, Earin, Trish and all the staff that participate in this difficult period of life of Tomas. They made it fun and enjoyable. God bless you all.
